Preparing for Taylor Swift’s Eras movie
It’s officially Taylor Swift Eras Week 2.0!
I say 2.0, because if you’ve lived through the Eras tour dates, and your own show, then this is a repeat with the film version.
This is the first concert film release for Taylor, so it’s a BIG DEAL. Anything involving Taylor becomes an event and a full on experience that usually requires planning, prepping and some sort of crafting.
Since we are just a few days away from its cinematic debut (aside from the movie premiere at The Grove tonight), here are a few ways you can get ready for the weekend in true Taylor fashion:
Buy your tickets.
If you know anything about T. Swift, it’s that she draws a crowd wherever she goes. And with that comes sellouts. It’s also just the way movie theaters work these days. So, text your group chats or your best friends and lock down a date, then buy your tickets and make a game plan so you’re ready for opening weekend.
Plan your attire.
The Eras Tour brought all the costumes, Taylor inside jokes, sequins and nods to the songstress. It was over the top and brilliant. However, many are opting for the cozy route this time around, myself included. Show your support for the Eras tour by wearing merch from one of the shows, throwback Taylor items, make something special for the showing or support a business on Etsy. We Swifties know how to get crafty and understand the assignment at all times.
Follow along on social media.
Swifties are always in action on Twitter. That’s where you’ll find all the tea - From inside jokes and down to the minute Taylor news. It’s also where all of the fun is happening - Get inspiration for your bracelets, outfits, chat about your favorite moments, whatever. It’s a great community to swap stories and things only this fandom will understand.
Plus, share your moments from your own Eras film experience using the official hashtag: #TSTheErasTourFilm, so Taylor’s team (and everyone else) can see all of the outfits and celebrations.
And catch up on any of the premiere action you might have missed on Wednesday evening.
Listen to the set list throughout the week.
Apple Music and Spotify both have lists of the concert’s set from start to finish. You can either have it memorized by the time you see it in theaters, if you don’t already, or be surprised on the day of.
Either way, Taylor has a large catalog, spanning over 17 years, that you can choose from, whether you’re a teenage girl falling in love for the first time or in your Lover era. There’s something for every occasion!
Bake Taylor’s famous Chai cookies.
We all know Taylor’s love for baking — Always baking cookies and other treats — for fans during her album secret sessions and in her personal life. Probably her most well-known? The chai sugar cookies. Every year, this goes on my fall bucket list, but have never gotten around to it. They are just as delicious as I thought they'd be. I turned on the Reputation Stadium Tour as my mom and I made the cookies. It was fun and festive.
Make the friendship bracelets.
Aside from Taylor’s obvious talent and three-hour set list, another thing this tour will be remembered for will be the friendship bracelet making and swapping. One line in a Taylor song turns into a trend. We all love a good aesthetic. While we all made them for the tour, it’s no different for the film. Many are making special bracelets just for the movie. I attempted that, until I went to try it on and the beads went everywhere. We’ll see if I find time to put together a few more for my mom and I.
Now, you’re ready to go! Although, maybe you're going tonight, since Taylor just released the movie sooner than planned.
Whatever you decide to do, have fun and make all the memories!
